Timothy Ministry Commenting Rules

It is my desire for the commenting option on this blog to be used for the edification of believers, for a witness to unbelievers, and for the glory of God. I have simplified commenting etiquette into two rules. Please respect these rules and help to make this site a godly place for all people. Any abuse of these will result in deletion of the post. May we all have the mind of Christ.

COMMENTING RULES:

1. This site is founded upon the Word of God recorded in the Holy Bible. We believe all Scripture is perfect, without error and is the highest authority touching any subject. All commenters must respect this fact as our faith rests on this very truth, and therefore our posts will be a reflection of our faith. This is a Christian website, though we are happy to allow non-Christians to post and engage on the blog, so long as they understand our position on the Bible of God.

2. The commenting option is for edification only: contribution or inquiry. No bad language is acceptable under any circumstances. If you are upset about something, do not sin by letting go of your self-control. Do not tear one another down, but rather build one another up in the Lord. Exercise brotherly love, for by this alone will people know we are followers of Christ.

Remember: discussion and correction are encouraged, so long as they remain within these parameters. May God bless the use of this site.

Eli, How are ya? Havn't seen you at the HIL in a little while.

Yeah, I'm just wondering about your new rules. What gives? Of coure you believe all scripture is 'God breathed' and that's cool but not everone believes that. So what do you mean when you say that all respondents must "respect" this? That they should assume this is true?
I mean, I know this is a Christianity-based site, but what's the use of a discussion site like this just for believers?
Anyway, maybe I misunderstood.. no worries, just thought I'd ask.

Eli,

I will respectfully attempt to adhere to your rules.

What you have done seems right to me Eli.
If our Creator God saw the need to establish guidelines for His Kingdom,(Matt chapters 5-7), it's only right that you should do the same for "Timothy Ministries", which I see as a kingdom venture.

Hey Eli,

I don't want this comment to come across the wrong way, I just want to get something off my chest that has been there for a while.

If this site is going to be for encouragement and correction (including people sometimes correcting you), I think that it would also be fair to delete comments that come from people who won't put their names down.
I like it when people correct me, proverbs talks about it A LOT! I like it a lot more when people that love me correct me. I don't believe that anonymous correction comments can be loving. For example, I get a phone call. I say: "Hello", I hear one of those creepy garbled up voices like from a hostage movie....."Hello", I say: "Who is this", they say: "It's not important, what's important is that you have a problem and I need to help you fix it". If we really love each other and care about each other, we are not going to hide behind big silly masks. I don't think I need to go on and on about this.

I'm not saying that all comments with no name be removed. Sometimes it's just someone with a question who is embarrased, etc. I'm just saying that if we are going to keep an atmosphere of encouragement, correction and love, I think it's absolutely fair to delete comments written in anonymity.

Love you brother, I hope this all came out right. Micah

Hey Justin!

I knew that question would come up. I guess I should have made it more clear.

I'm not saying a person must agree with the Scriptures, but that they must respect the fact that as Christians we hold them as the highest authority.

I don't think this rule will even be an issue, but the second one is the one we'll all have to pay attention to, and it will be for all our own good.

Hey Eli.

OK, just thought I would get that clarified. And as for the second rule, .. I don't think language is a big deal personally. We all hear 'bad' language every day and aren't really affected by it. But no worries, I can respect that rule. haha

Love ya man.

I disagree with Micah Peterson.

According to his arguments, any person who Eli or others did not know personally would need to be deleted

My name is Rodney Paker, none of you know me, should my posts be deleted if I bring a correction or rebuke? I live in Woodstock ontario, so I will probably never meet you. should I not ever bother posting again?

Hey Rodney,

I was just talking about anonymity, hiding around the corner type of comments. You put your name down, so I don't see why your comments would be deleted. I may not know you now, but it would be cool to meet you someday and know that we have had some good discussion!

To eliminate the anonymous posters, why not disable anonymous posting? Just my 2 cents worth.

What if they just use a fake name, lol?! Honestly, some people would do this...

Welcome Rodney, feel completely free to comment. I believe Micah is more concerned about people who actually do know me, are hostile, and hide behind anonymity.

I am going to applogize in advance because this is going to be an anonymous comment. Not because i want to tear anything or any one down, but because letting people know who i am and what i believe is really scary for me. I'm afraid because i want to believe alot of what you're saying but i just can't. I'm afraid of not being accepted by the community i love, and i'm afraid that without the support they provide i'll never grow in my own faith. I have trouble believing the word literally. I mean how do you just know. you always seem so sure that everything in that book is faultless. And i just can't seem to wrap my head around it.

Dear Anonymous,

Thank you so much for posting.

Life is a battle for faith. The one thing God is looking for in the hearts of men is faith. The one the devil is trying to extinguish is faith. If we lose our faith we lose everything. If we hold on to our faith we will gain everything.

"That the trial of your faith, being much more precious than of gold that perisheth, though it be tried with fire, might be found unto praise and honour and glory at the appearing of Jesus Christ."

Everything begins with SIMPLE FAITH. A faith as small as a mustard seed believing God for what He said. We believe in simple faith that God created the heavens and earth... and not just because the Bible says... but by what is made. "By faith we understand that the universe was formed at God's command, so that what is seen was not made out of what was visible." (Hebrews 11:3) The men of old believed despite even having the Scriptures.

Simple faith is calling on the name of Lord Jesus... much like you would if you were drowning in a lake and you were alone and helpless... you cry out, not knowing who will hear, but you call out "help me!" God will hear the cry of the helpless when they call. "Whosoever calls on the name of the Lord shall be saved."

If you like to email me we can talk more about the Bible and why it is the Word of God. The Bible is historically true, scientifically proven and prophetically accurate. All these things prove the authority of the Bible, but it takes faith to read it as the Word of God.

I'll leave it here for now, God bless you. Seek the Lord, you will find.

God bless,
-Eli
