Hi Eli!

Super list! Have you read them all??? I'm such a slow reader.

I do have a few that I am working on (not all finished) and I think they are some of the best books I have ever read. Here they are in order of sweetness.

1.Bible
2.No Compromise - Keith Green's bio
3.Right Relationships - Tom Marshall
4.How now then shall we live - Chuck(Charles) Colson
5.Loving God - Chuck Colson
6.Free Indeed - Tom Marshall

Let me explain...

1. Do or die

2. An example of a life that was sold out and I mean sold out for Jesus!! Keith Green's music challenges me almost every day and knowing the story behind the music makes it that much more awesome. Keith is not only challenging, but he is honest. This is must read stuff!!!

3. Tom Marshall is a very gifted writer, counsellor and man of God. This book is a bible based view of relationships and it is a life changing book. Relationships are what life is all about and this is a top to bottom guide on how have them, grow them and how to keep them. Not to be mistaken for romantic relationships, this one is for everyone!!

4. Chuck Colson is the man! He is a lawyer from the Nixon days and not only is he smart, well spoken, wise and focused, he also knows the Lord and loves him with all his heart. This book is everything you ever wanted to know about why christianity is the ONLY truth. If you like apologetics and logic, this book will make you hop around the room with a big smile on your face!!!! It's a big book and I'm still reading it!

5.This book by Chuck Colson brought me to a mind bogling realization that I should have gotten from reading the bible, but missed it. I don't want to spoil it, but I'll give you a clue, John 15. We say we love God, but HOW do we REALLY love God?? Good question, good answers! This book has apologetics too!

6.Have you ever struggled with habitual sin? Read Romans 6-8 and like Paul thought: "Why do I do things that I don't want to do". Well, Tom takes some key verses and really does a great job of explaining sin nature. This is an eye opening book and Tom helps verses that you memorized in Sunday school come alive!

That's it for now, I've read others books, not worth listing, but my goal right now is to read all Chuck Colson's books and CS Lewis' books.

Later buddy! Micah

Thanks, Micah, for these additions and for their descriptions. I hope people who are searching can find a book that is suitable for them.

Yup, I've got No Compromise on the list and have read it. Excellent!

Blessings brother,

I have ordered, but not yet received the following two volumes:

"The Death of Christ" by James Denney

"The Atonement" by R. W. Dale

According to Alistair Begg, these two books, and of course the Scriptural perspective provided by them, revolutionized the preaching of D. Martyn Lloyd-Jones, making it the sort of cross-centered preaching for which MLJ is known.

While searching for those, I stumbled upon "The Cross of Christ" by Lloyd-Jones and Eric Alexander.

I am "chomping at the bit" as I watch the mailbox!!!!

Hi, Eli,

What a wonderful library you have; and such a blessing to have it. I would like to suggest a few more for it if I may. Most of these books are fiction; but not all, and some of the fiction books are based on historical facts. They are wonderful examples of godly living with Christlike responses. They have been my mentors and have discipled me much in my christian life by their example. Here they are:

The Spanish Brothers by Deborah Alcock
Under the Southern Cross by Deborah Alcock
Both of these are awesome examples of the work of Christ in persecution as He puts us through the fire and cleans out the dross to bring forth pure gold.

Peter Joins In by L. V. Davidson
The black sheep of the village becomes a precious godly young man at the age of 15 through the work of Christ in his life and a godly mentor who helped him to learn to turn the other cheek, etc.

'The Bishop's Shadow' & 'Theo, the Big Brother' by I. T. Thurston. These may be true accts. as the young man in this book was influenced by Philips Brooks who wrote 'Oh Little Town of Bethlehem'. The story & sequel of a 13 yo street boy that Jesus touched, how he changed his life and used him to change others lives. Really awesome!

These books are by Hesba Stretton, a christian Charles Dickens. She picked up the gauntlet of the neglected street children; and also wrote on living godly lives; and the consequences of sin.
'Jessica's First Prayer', 'Alone in London', 'Carola'(most excellent), 'Cobwebs and Cables' & 'The Half Brother' to name a few. The last two show the grave truth that our Lord does not always deliver us from the consequences of fatal decisions that we may have made; but rather uses them to change us.

O. F. Walton wrote some wonderful books: 'Christie's Old Organ', 'My Little Corner', 'Saved at Sea', 'My Mates and I' & 'Shadows' to name a few. All are on various aspects of how the Lord reaches down and saves us from or in our miserable conditions; and leads us on to be His servants in this life.

Isabella Alden aka Pansy was an American author in the early 1900's. She wrote wonderful books on living the christian life; and how our example can work so much change. She wrote:
'Helen Lester', 'Side by Side', 'Stephen Mitchell's Journey', 'New Graft on a Tree'. These were excellent. She also wrote a series that had some very good lessons for us: Ester Reid, Four Girls at Chautauqua, The Chautauqua Girls at Home, Julia Reid, Ester Reid Yet Speaking. Chautauqua is a real place in New York. It was started by a godly minister for the sake of encouraging christian growth. Sadly it has changed through the years and is nothing more now than a center of philosophy, I believe. Isabella Alden was a helper in those days at Chautauqua being a minister's wife.

The Robber's Cave, The Young Pilgrim, The White Bear's Den are a few written by Charlotte Maria Tucker, aka ALOE. Her books are written about living godly lives; and being like Christ. I believe she was the aunt of William Tucker Booth.

Probable Sons, and The Little Maid are two wonderful books by Amy Le Fevre on how God changes us.

Vanya by Myra Grant is the true story of a young man persecuted in the Russian Red Army for his faith; and how God used him.

Hinds Feet on High Places; and Mountains of Spices are allergories of the christian life by Hannah Hurnard.

So these are just a few of the many, many books that there are available. I forgot to mention that most of these authors were in the late 1800's to early 1900's. They have been a huge blessing to our family. I hope that it was ok to share them with you.

Many blessings to you,
Mrs. Schatte

Well, I have sent you a few of the many, many books there are out there.

I greet you Eli, in Jesus Christ. For taking your time and devoting yourself to listing here the books, I say thank you. I was looking for more of Horatius Bonar.

You can add the following books on the list.

"The secret of the cross" by Andrew Murray
"Like Christ" by Andrew Murray.

God bless you,

In Christ
