College of Charleston

Greetings to all friends and readers abroad,

Yesterday concluded our final meeting at College of Charleston, Charleston, South Carolina, wrapping up a series of intense meetings which lasted four days and saw no small share of good fruit. However, with this fruit came a blaze of opposition, right from the beginning.

When we first arrived I began to preach and immediately a crowd began to form, but no longer than a few minutes into it the public safety officers surrounded me and ordered us to move someplace else. We had to set up on the sidewalk outside this 'public' campus.

Speaking of this campus, I have never seen such a beautiful one, nor such an agreeable looking city. Until now I was solely accustomed to the Atlantic Canadian environment, but it has been a blessing to see so many different trees, including palm trees, adding more to God's wonderful creation. The weather here is also very warm, but with all the large and vitalic trees everywhere there is plenty of shade making this region a pleasant place of residence! But, back to the report...

Regardless of being on the sidewalk, we drew large crowds every day, especially on the third day, when the entire area was packed with students running both up and down the street. During the commotion of the third day, my guitar was stolen along with our briefcase which contained tracts, Bibles, a Qur'an and a Book of Mormon. Also, our eraser board and banners where violently thrown into the streets, Evan was hit across the face, and I was threatened to be beaten up by a much heavierweight individual. It was because we preached the gospel so strongly that mulitudes were getting convicted and their only defense was no longer in arguing but in attacking.

The crowd was so big at one point and were pressing in from every side that I had to jump up onto the railing in order to continue to preach. The picture below is actually down the street from where Miles and Evan were holding the meeting.

During our stay at College of Charleston the students asked me to tell them of how I came to know the Lord and I was honored to be able to share my testimony, which Miles was able to capture on video. The following video is my personal testimony given at CofC to a captive audience of curious sinners. "Go... and tell them how great things the Lord hath done for thee, and hath had compassion on thee." (Mark 5:19): Eli Brayley - Personal Testimony

After realizing our things had been stolen, we praised God and said, "The Lord giveth and the Lord taketh away: Blessed be the Name of the Lord." On Thursday morning, the phone rang; it was the police. They had found our things and not a single item was missing. Praise God!

This campus was totally shaken. Glory to God for the work He is accomplishing through this pathetic ministry team. God bless you, dear friends. May the Lord keep us all strong in the power of the Holy Spirit. Be jealous for His glory! Sincerely,

Your brother in Christ,
-Eli

NC State University

After spending the weekend with Rev. Kerrigan, we moved on to preach at UNC Chapel Hill and then to North Carolina State University, shown above. The meeting here was great: calm and civil from start to finish, with lots of excellent questions and profitable dialogue. Conversation ranged from religion to philosophy, science to ethics... Students attend college for a higher education, but the preachers of the gospel deliver to them the highest education, which is the Word of God! "I have chosen the way of truth: Thy judgments have I laid before me." (Psalm 119:30)

Miles Lewis, speaking on Romans 7 and the miracle of new birth:

Blessings dear saints! Thank you for your continued prayers and support. May the Lord use all of us mightily in going about the Father's business. Love your brother in Christ,
-Eli

UNC Chapel Hill

"The Pit", at the University of North Carolina Chapel Hill, is a famous campus preaching location in the country where we were able to speak at and declare the risen Lord Jesus Christ. The number of people at this campus was astounding; it is a small town all on it's own: complete with a diversity of people and places and lots of commotion. When we first arrived there was a Muslim demonstration taking place on a lawn near the center of campus and a folk rock band playing down in the Pit, a sort of indented stage in the midst of the busiest section of the university. As the Lord had it, not long after we arrived the band packed up and left the area, but another preacher was already prepared to jump up and preach. UNC gets frequented many times by campus preachers so the students are quite used to seeing them... but when the brother was finished speaking and Open Air Outreach got up to preach, we still rocked the Pit!

I was able to preach to the students about athiesm, agnosticism, the veracity of Scripture, the testimony of Jesus, the heart of the sinner, and the resurrection of Christ. Two video clips from UNC are now available on the site under the download section. Here is one of them below:

This campus was a huge blessing to preach at. Praise God for His sovereign grace and unfailing love! May the gospel continue to go forth with great power as we saw it on this campus. God bless, dear friends.

We met up with Rev. Kerrigan Skelley from the Great News Network in Greeneville North Carolina and preached together with him on the ECU campus for the day. Brother Kerrigan is shown above; he started the meeting and was already in the midst of preaching when we arrived. The meeting we had that day began rather rowdy: a man from the crowd ran up and grabbed one of our Bibles; running off with it he tore it to pieces, throwing the contents into the air.

The remains of the Bible:

During the meeting, as Evan was preaching, an angry listener approached and attacked him, but the police (who were there) immediately intervened and took him swiftly aside. The photo below was taken just seconds beforehand:

However, as the meeting went on, things calmed down and Miles and I were able to speak to the students reasonably and rationally, declaring forth the Word of God with authority and gentleness.

Blessings dear friends. Please keep us in your prayers, that we would speak boldly as we ought, with all wisdom and grace, and that student's ears and hearts would be open to receive the engrafted Word which is able to save their souls. Glory to Jesus! Miss you all.

Virginia Commonwealth University

Our meetings at Virginia Commonwealth were awesome; at times totally civil, at other times things got really wild, but throughout it all the gospel was clearly preached and the mouths of the gainsayers were silenced. Brother Evan nearly got beaten up right at the beginning when a Deicide follower got in his face and was growling like an angry beast, but it drew a sizeable crowd and I was able to preach and defend the Word of God in a calm and orderly manner. Originally, the campus told us we couldn't come onto the grounds, which is public! But we still had a great meeting the first day on the streets just off campus.

Day two was raining, but we acquired a permit and were able to set up right in the center of campus. We persevered through the rain until it cleared up and we had a fantastic meeting.

The man above was a real snake. He is the religious professor at VCU and came out both days to hinder the preaching of the gospel. This man flaunted around his education, winning over the students, and blatantly lied to them regarding the Bible and certain passages of Scripture. Students applauded as he assured them they must be homosexual in order to enter the Kingdom of God! However, on both days, we totally disarmed his arguments and he left the meetings defeated.

The following is a video taken from the second meeting at VCU. At the end of the clip, you will see a man debating with Evan about opinion and interpretation of Scripture, one of the most common and ridiculous objection that we hear on every campus:

This meeting lasted for hours, well into the night. Just to give you an idea of what the campus preaching tour is like, we preach at least six hours a day, five days a week, though often times more. Meetings can last up to eight hours, and we during the weekends we also preach at the bar districts in the city. This is truly full time labor; we go to work in the morning and come back home in the evening. I love it.

George Mason University

We hit George Mason University, one of the most heavily populated Islamic schools in America, on 9/11-12, which made for some action packed meetings as we lifted up the Lord Jesus Christ against a hostile and unbelieving world. This campus was very dark with lots of demonic stuff happening. We encountered many wiccans and occultists who vehemently opposed us. One guy came out in full warlock garb and began casting curses upon us in a strange language. Evan and I commanded him to leave in the name of Jesus and in a matter of minutes he was gone. "Ye are of God, little children, and have overcome them: because greater is He that is in you, than he that is in the world." (1 John 4:4)

The following is a video clip of Miles speaking to a group of students on the differences between Islam and Christianity. We often preach with the Bible in one hand and the Qur'an in the other, showing students the authority of the true Word of God:

God bless dear saints! Keep frequenting TimothyMinistry.com for more updates and entries regarding this year of full time gospel ministry! Leave your comments, I love to hear from you!

SUNY Oswego

Dear TM readers,

Grace and peace in the Lord Jesus Christ. I'm writing to you this morning from Rockville, Maryland after seven days of being on the road, having already been blessed by the numerable experiences thus far; of the places we've been and people we've met, all of which I give thanks to God. The picture you see above is our team, from left to right: myself, Miles and Evan, and the van behind us is our home for the next while. The Lord has indeed blessed us with a tremendous team; the van is more than we could have asked, very spacious and comfortable, but what's more is how we as brothers have bonded wonderfully, having loving affection towards one another with a united mind in seeking the glory of our great God and Savior. Praise God!

This update will have to be brief as we are about to head out and preach day two at George Mason University in Fairfax, Virginia. I'll be posting an update on GMU in another post. Last week we preached three days in New York State at SUNY Oswego and had amazing open air meetings, preaching the gospel of Christ to mostly civil, eager to learn students. Three classes even left their classrooms to come outside and hear us! The joy of it all is exalting Jesus Christ publicly to the unbelieving world, strengthening and encouraging the Christian body on campus, and preaching repentance and remission by the cross of Jesus Christ which is the power of God unto salvation. God is truly fulfilling the desire of my heart.

Crowds will come out to listen for hours and hours. "Behold, I say unto you, Lift up your eyes, and look on the fields; for they are white already to harvest." (John 4:35)

The following video gives you a good taste of what it is like to preach on a university. This clip begins very civil until a student who professes to be a Christian jumps up and proceeds to rail accusations against us and makes false claims about the Bible, causing a very exciting meeting to occur. Be blessed as you watch how the Word of God silences the mouths of the wicked:

God bless you dear saints, please remember us in your prayers as we desperately need them during this time. "For though we walk in the flesh, we do not war after the flesh: (For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but mighty through God to the pulling down of strongholds;) Casting down imaginations, and every high thing that exalteth itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ." (2 Corinthians 10:3-5)
